or so it would very much seem - could they be so stupid in pursuit of their own inflated egos?


Surely neither Hannan nor Carswell would put their own egos before their Country but to be fair they do rather find themselves in political culdesacks in career terms. One has to wonder to what extent reinvention of himself as Myrtle may suit Hannan and might Carsdale be a foil in Britain wedded to the idea of Rose to Hannan's continental Myrtle - each in their own way trying to breath life into their stalled careers the one in Westminster whilst the other acts as the Judas Goat in Brussels alongside the likes of Farage and any other flotsam he can pick up for as you will recall David Bannerman was all too willing to prostitute himself to get back into bed with the Tories - well any Tory I hear.


Clearly if they are ever to feed their egos adequately I do feel that as politicians they will perforce be likely to make many a bleating sound as they lead the gullible of the EUroSceptic movement like sheep to the slaughter in return for the continuance of their glory.

It was Autonomous Mind who first picked up the stench on the breeze from a little-known blog (see musings of a PoleCat below!). This had it that Dan Hannan and Douglas Carswell were seeking to wind up the Better Off Out campaign. Supported by Mark Reckless, they are proposing that BOO should be replaced by a cross-party referendum campaign, which says AM, "confirms the suspicions of many people" that the pair "are nothing more than David Cameron’s useful idiots".

The clue as to the direction of travel came from an earlier post on the Hannan blog and, while it does indeed look as if the deadly duo are shifting their ground, I would not entirely endorse the analysis offered by AM. Given how the pair, and Hannan especially, function as token eurosceptics, their function to lead waverers into the Tory Party, the real clue to their role is given in the comments to yet another Hannan post. There it is suggested that Judas goat might be a better descriptor.

A Judas goat is a trained goat used at a slaughterhouse and in general animal herding. The Judas goat is trained to associate with sheep or cattle, leading them to a specific destination. In stockyards, a Judas goat will lead sheep to slaughter, while its own life is spared. Judas goats are also used to lead other animals to specific pens and on to trucks.

Funnily enough, though, Judas goats are illegal under EU slaughterhouse law. Once an animal has entered a slaughterhouse, it must be slaughtered within 24 hours. There are no exceptions permitted, and the only working animals allowed - and then just in the lairage - are dogs. As long as he is an MEP, Hannan would be safe enough from the branding.

However, so apposite is the description that we have nevertheless decided on an honorific for the Hannan, judging "Myrtle" to be the most appropriate. This is slightly better than Rose, but that name can hardly apply. The experience of that animal which led it to such great fame is that which is intended for the unwise and gullible who follow Myrtle to the final destination.

As has been so often stated on my various blogs and elsewhere there is little or no doubt that it is the enemy within that we must be most aware of as they seek their own glory at the expense of all others - but surely not Myrtle Hannan & Rose Carswell but then again they both face deselection by the pro EU LibLabConstruct and the oleaginous Boy King.

Dan Hannan and Douglas Carswell Propose Winding Up BOO

EXCLUSIVE: Withdrawalism’s pantomime horse does the splits

In Committee Room 7 at the House of Commons this evening, Dan Hannan and Douglas Carswell proposed that Better Off Out should wind itself up. Arguing that the supporters of BOO – whom present tonight included Lord Tebbit – have, in one form or another, ‘sat for thirty years’ without achieving the objective of Britain’s withdrawal from the EU, the two men, supported by Mark Reckless, proposed that BOO should go out of business and be replaced by a cross-party referendum campaign. Their case for this included the belief that Tory MPs won’t join BOO for fear of getting the black spot. Douglas Carswell further suggested that more than half the new Tory intake in the Commons were privately in favour of a referendum, and moreover, were personally receptive to his arguments. The meeting was chaired by Lord Vinson and despite the push by Dan Hannan, Douglas Carswell and Mark Reckless to abolish BOO, it decided instead to keep itself in existence but wish a fair wind to any All Party Parliamentary Group that can be established in favour of an In/Out referendum on the EU.

It’s hard to see what the case is for abolishing BOO. Apart from anything else, far from having achieved nothing, it’s the one group in the last quarter century that has given any public salience whatsoever to the idea of British withdrawal from the EU. Beyond that the low politics of the Hannan/Carswell proposal don’t seem to make much immediate sense either. If Tory MPs are reluctant to join BOO because of the implications for their career prospects, any group which is established that doesn’t threaten their personal ambitions isn’t likely to be doing its job. David Cameron has been unambiguous on this point: he fully supports British membership of the EU. A group that he and the whips can tolerate ambitious Tory backbenchers belonging to is, almost by definition, a neutered body. With, in this instance, the proposed distinction of being one that intends to neuter itself.

Lord Tebbit made the point that Tory MPs, should redistribution actually happen, will face the tremendous threat of Central Office determining whether or not they get new constituencies in any shrunken House of Commons. While Phil Davies pointed out that BOO and a pro-Referendum APPG are anyway two quite distinct propositions. The latter can, if 6 or more Labour MPs can be found to join it, include pro-EU politicians in favour of a referendum precisely so that they can keep us in the EU. Thus the point of BOO is to keep making the Withdrawalist case, rather than dissolving itself in favour of a cross-party grouping merely agnostically agitating for an In/Out poll.

One sub-current to the evening’s discussion was the marked impression that on the Hannan/Carswell side the belief is that to call the referendum is to win it. Others, including the Bruges Group’s Barry Legg, felt that it was personal economic attitudes towards the EU that would ultimately determine how people voted, just as in 1975, and that that that was nothing like a sealed deal yet.

BOO is a very necessary thing, and whatever very slim chance there is that this Liberal Conservative Coalition would ever allow an In/Out referendum to be staged on its pro-EU watch, it’s crucial that BOO continues to exist and keeps making the case for withdrawal when eventually the opportunity to do so presents itself. It’s also imperative that Tory withdrawalists should work together rather than, as this evening, at cross purposes.

Time and time again it has been our mainstream politicians and Snivil Cervants who have most consistently betrayed us be that as Heath, Rippon, Hurd, Hesseltine, Major, Kinnock, Jenkins, Blair, Brown, Straw, Presscot, Healy, Plum and others who have taken the devils Ecu.

IF we are to save our Country, our future, our children in liberty, sovereignty and independence with dignity and self determination in Justice and self esteem as a global trading nation that the world can trust - clearly our first action is to shake the dust of conventional failure from our feet break free of betrayal by Party structure and look to saving ourselves.

It is my opinion that with The EU Referendum Campaign on the one hand and already The Judas Goat made a play for control having begged for the one meeting then trying to seize control by announcing a launch as if he had any say - Could Myrtle be trying to do the same with The BOO Group?

On the other side of the coin working in more than a little harmony we have The Petition for an EUReferendum and few would call Nikki Sinclaire other than a dedicated Leave-The-EU devotee clearly selflessly fighting for liberty Independently rather than as a Party hack working with the racists and anti Jewish faction of Farage's sell out of principles !

I feel a bit like Robin Horbury here, who writes a fine piece on Biased BBC himself complaining about feeling like a "cracked record". You can only keep on saying the same things over and over again for so long before even you get tired of your own voice.

Another thing I also get a little bit tired of is being branded the "bad sod", the one who is always out on his own, who can't join in and put his weight behind the common cause.

That much has been put to me about the Referendum Campaign and also the anti-EU campaign in the Daily Express, which has culminated in the publication today of a 23-page booklet, telling us that we must, "Get Britain out of the EU".

It is not, of course, that we do not agree with the sentiment, but the front cover tells you everything you need to know about the eurosceptic thinking in this country. Redolent of the famous 1940 Low cartoon (inset below), it has the trademark Express crusader standing on the cliffs of Dover, looking out toward the Continent – where (by inference) the "enemy" exist.

And here the "cracked record" comes in. The EU is not a foreign construct imposed on us. Our government is an enthusiastic part of the EU nexus and the only reason we are in the EU is because Parliament permits it. It is not looking over the Channel to the Continent that our brave crusader needs to be doing. He needs to be looking inwards, tearing down the gates of Westminster. The enemy is within.

That said, if there was any doubt that the Express had lodged itself in the last century, we just need to read the offering from editor Peter Hill, where the tone – and content – would be familiar to anyone who had attended UKIP meetings ... of the '90s.

All the buzz-words are there, "sovereignty", the mandatory reference to "Napoleon" and "Hitler", the "wine and milk lakes" and the "butter and grain mountains", not forgetting, of course, the swipe at the "superstate".

I have written too many pieces on this blog about the fate of euroscepticism to want to repeat them, but in the forty years, on an off, that I've been fighting the EU, I would like to think I've learnt a thing or two about the enemy, and how to fight it.

Mr Peter Hill of the Express, however, doesn't appear to have learnt a thing, and the eurosceptic movement is a moribund as ever if that is the best it has to offer. In that sense, the movement itself is the cracked record, endless repeating the same tired, jaded message, while the world carries out without it.

We have to be capable of doing better than that and, until we can, I want no part of it.

NOW for the 'BUT' - yes I do agree with Richard however I find myself in the position where age and health are taking their toll on my time/energy to fight the good fight, not for myself as I have enjoyed my life and made much of it BUT because I feel I should do all I can to give the future a chance - something I increasingly KNOW it does not have, unless those of the future value increased overpopulation mostly due to over copulation!

In my lifetime ie since 1945 the human population of this planet has risen, so far, from just a tad under 2 Billion people to just short of 7 Billion - of course this has led on its margins to the stripping of forests to build and to create more agricultural space and living room.

First things first - perhaps someone can explain why in Communist China 28% of economic activity is that of The State yet in Britain we now have 53% of economic activity and employment State controlled yet we have absolutely no say over our destiny and are denied the fundamental human right of Self Determination.

When will we be accorded that fundamental human right, when will Democracy be re-patriated, when will we have the right to vote to determine our own future.

When will we have our IN or OUT Referendum on membership of the malign, malevolent and staggeringly damaging Evils of a centralised undemocratic EUropean Union.

It has always been said that the difference between a terrorist and a freedom fighter when he blows up and kills substantial numbers of an authoritarian political class is that the terrorist has access to a ballot box but a freedom fighter does not and thus his actions are honourable.

Since we are clearly denied the access to the ballot box on the ONE AND ONLY issue that matters when do YOU consider blowing up a gathering of Politicians would be acceptable?

For a self styled and self serving Political class to set rules as to what WE whom they supposedly serve should be allowed to vote on they have clearly lost the plot and it starts to look as if they NEED to be blown up.

I do agree with Richard when he states he can not choose to be associated with the limp wristed misrepresentation of the fact that The EU is NOT our enemy - our enemy are those who betray us at and via Westminster - You will note they cleverly removed the Treason Laws and in 1998 finally removed the death penalty for their criminal behaviour!

Unlike Richard I find I lack the courage to stand nobly by and watch my Country being destroyed and therefore I have chosen to conjoin with what can only be described as the lesser of the evils and use the weak and wishy washy to point out the undeniably corrupt and dishonest. Perhaps I can help put lead in the pencil of the pusillanimous! I can but try in what time energy is granted to me ;-)

When is our Referendum and the RIGHT to self Determination and failing that when shall we start hanging Politicians from lamp posts. Obscene as the action was let us for a moment think of Gabrielle Giffords fighting for survival after finding herself the victim of some crazed youngster encouraged it seems by her having been in the 'Cross Hairs' of Sahra Palin's utterly irresponsible self interested advertising campaign where Congress Woman Gabrielle Giffords was featured as a target, overlayed with the Cross Hairs of a rifle sight!

Gabrielle Giffords' crime was not selling out her Country and her peoples to foreign rule and profligate centralised governance of a wholly debased and alien nature but actively voting, with the best of intentions, for Health Care for all!

The unelected European Commission   

** the president of the European Commission is elected by the European Parliament, and the other members of the Commission are confirmed in office by the EP **

is demanding the right to vet national budgets before elected parliaments are even allowed to see and debate them. 

** no, it proposes that, given that the budgetary decisions that each EU member state takes have an impact on all the others, there should be analysis of those impacts as part of the budgetary process **  

It also wants to the right to tax us individually: that is to say an EU level of tax we must all pay, additional to the money we already hand over to our government and local councils.  

** the idea is that the money currently contributed to the EU budget by national governments be replaced by a European tax – it would make the level of EU expenditure more visible to the citizen and enable national governments to reduce the amount of tax they themselves raise.  In order to be implemented, it would need the unanimous agreement of every member state.  By the way, this idea that each level of government should be responsible for raising its own revenue is featured in The Plan, the book by Douglas Carswell and Daniel Hannan. **

What is the point of a meaningless referendum on Electoral Reform next May that will cost us £80 million and achieve nothing.  ** the referendum might change the voting system to Westminster  -that is surely not meaningless **   

Why even consider changing the way we vote for our politicians when 75% of our laws are made in Brussels

If only The EU would check its own propaganda as Hans Pottering stated in response to the Czech Prime Minister The EU makes over 75% of the laws in all of EUrope.

Further do remember that the balance 20% must be compliant with EU law and ro quote Section II Part II ECA:

'It shall be the duty and responsibility of The Minister concerned to enact into law all laws to be compliant with The EU whether by Statutary Instrument or by Order In Councel'

Thus clearly The EU is by no meaningfull definition of the word a democracy and in any logical consideration Westminster is no longer responsible and thus MPs are drawing both their wages and their expenses fraudullently as they have no meaningfull job to acquit nor duty to fulfill - They are no more than super annuated social workers with absolutely no authority and no say over anything whatsoeve save voting to increase their wages and expenses which they do with great alacrity and even manage to keep a straight face for such a bent action!

However MEPs are responsible for the theft of tax payers' money on an industrialised basis.<<

and our MPs have no powers to influence those laws

That must have surprised the EU propaganda machine as they make no comment but probably because they know that like Ireland they can rig the vote or like France & The Netherlands just ignore the wishes of the people - or at the end of the day rename the same document and pass it themselves as they did with the New Constitution Lisbon Treaty.

The EU is utterly and unarguably corrupt, profligate and irresponsible and likely to be the cause of more deaths in Europe during the next 50 years in its wars of disassociation and as famine stalks the planes of EUrope followed by plague than in every European war in history to date.<<

The EU employs more apparatchiks than there are in The Chinese Army - Clearly 80%+ of all law is implemented by the EU then 80%+ of the enforcement is a result and thus we can be assured that the majority of work done by Local Government and the Civil service in general and most of police work is in carrying out enforcement of EU law.

To lie and pretend that the armies of bureaucrats doing EU work and funded by a further EU tax on citizens is in some way NOT in the employ of The EU is disingenuous to the level of obscenity!

The propaganda Minister for the EU alone has  staffed offices in every university campus, 6th. form college, public library, County, City & Town Hall and of course those idiotic EU Regional Assemblies - Well over 500 Offices in Britain alone dispensing paper, leaflets, films, videos and staff for indoctrination with office space that probably runs to a square mile!
Then there are 18,000 Common Purpose graduates ALL selected and further propagandised to sell the central scam.<<

and Britain must wake up to the nightmares hiding under the sheets of Brussels. EU laws and directives made without our knowledge or consent,

Be minded in TRYING to sell the EU to a British audience that in Britain our laws are founded on the laws of natural Justice not the Justinian laws of repression facing the threat of Barbarians at the gates of Rome with or withou the farce of an overlay of Code Napoleon.

Be also minded that in these United Kingdoms we have Civil Servants to carry out their Civil function as our Servants - whereas The EU has Administrators, apparatchiks and bureaucrats.

Minded of this remember that in these United Kingdoms we elect in the time honoured and proven manner of ONE representative per constituency by FPTP whether that is a few hundred houses on a Town Council or a Parliamentary Constituency of an MP, an individual who is duty bound to represent his constituents ALL his constituents with no one to fob them off to and thus a direct link. MEPs have no direct link and are placed from a list garnering not a single vote in their own name and thus beholden to the state and the party NOT the elector.

Thus it is clear there is a fundamental difference between these United Kingdoms with our ancient tradition of laws based on debate on the Village Mound or to parlez though I don't know the Middle English spelling that came eventually through parlez mound to Parliament - the law in Britain has never been by imposition whereas understanding of democracy in continental Europe is tenuous in the extreme with not a single constitution predating 1946!

Is it any wonder that a Communist student rebel in Salazar's dictatorship has so little grasp of justice or democracy as is shown by Barroso - or that every MEP in Spain represents all of Spain with no responsibility having been a product of Franco's military dictatorship and the product of Guernica?

The European Movement is getting terribly worked up about the EU Referendum Campaign, offering a line-by-line fisking of the Campaign's position statement.

The trouble is that the statement is the usual identikit "euroscepticism" which shows that the authors know nothing and have learned nothing about the enemy they confront. Here is a sample:

Equally predictable is the European Movement response, the bores leading the bores, making this very much the fight of the bald men. But the European Movement should know that any campaign which features as its pin-up boy the egregious Dale, gurgling about the "Westminster Village", is going nowhere.

The first and foremost requirement of any campaigner is to "know your enemy" - Wellington's finding out what is on the other side of the hill, and all that. And the most crucial thing you will ever learn about the EU is that it is not a super-state, has no ambitions to become one and will not become one. But it is, increasingly, a super-government - and that is where it intends to go.

Primarily, the EU is a means by which the political élites in each of the member states by-pass the democratic institutions in their own countries, imposing their rule without the inconvenience of people participation. That is why the construct is so popular and enduring. The élites have created their own government without the interference of the pesky people.

In short, the EU is not an external agency imposed on us by foreigners (the UKIP/little Englander paradigm) but a conspiracy in plain sight, so glaring and obvious that it is ignored by all. It is the mechanism by which the political élites of Europe by-pass democracy and keep themselves in power. Thus, the EU is what the power élite in the British establishment impose on their own people - replicated in each country of the Union of Elites.

But, as long as we have the spectacle of bald men fighting over combs, the proles can be kept occupied without ever getting near the truth. The conspiracy goes marching on. The European Movement is part of it, and the EU Referendum Campaign looks like it is joining it.

It may in passing be of interest that I had already had a long conversation with EU Referendum Campaign's CEO and pointed out that permitting his nascent operation to be lampooned as a cult was unwise as it was already evident that Dan Hannan had jumped the gun to place is impramature on the organisation by launching in his own name to try to claim ownership well Dan does that, I guess it is something to do with insecurity, wasn't breast fed,left on his own too muich - who knows!

Peter Street – Cardboard Box Company.

Which is a good start and I hear Peter Street makes some VERY tough cardboard boxes as they will need them, as the list so far already contains some big organisations, but it also has to contend with some even bigger egos, if we are to see the levels of co-operation we all expect these people to be committed to.

Of course its a problem, but no organisation gets driven forward without ego and drive but no organisation survives if ego supplants drive!

I also made the point that Mrs. Dale's Diary was a fickle mistress and Iain himself was someone who may well be better on the outside than as a claimed friend.

My opinion I know, but for me to publish someone else's opinion as my own is a price beyond payment!

His tired trendy cliches cut no ice - he gives the impression that fresh air in an open field and he would be clutching for the bag around his neck and beyond doubt he was of The Westminster Bubble and barely that, having tried for years to get in as a PPC with the Tories he seems not to get the message - he is a parasite to some, an oleaginous sycophant to others but a choice for none it seems. Reject slips a plenty but who would want a commentator on life as a representative particularly one so jaundiced.

Seems I was right and other commentators have targeted the appearance of a personality cult!

I was assured last week by James that his web master was away but as soon as he returns both Dan and Mrs. Dale's Diary will move on - such banners are for crowds, groups, inanimate objects or animals - perhaps maps or works of art.

Much will change but everyone must start somewhere!

Lets face it just look at how crass and what a failure EU propaganda is and at a cost of €2.4Billion a year and even then both the achievements and the popularity, the trust and the output of The EU are tumbling - yet costs rocket!
